Nitre Cabinet Knob

How do I choose the right Nitre size – 15, 20 or 25 mm?

The general rule of proportion says that the diameter of the knob can be about 3–5% of the width of the front. For a 25–30 cm front, the 15 mm size will be a discreet accent that does not dominate the front. For 35–45 cm fronts, the 20 mm option provides a more pronounced but still well-proportioned detail. The 25 mm size works well on 50–60 cm fronts. All three sizes can be used together in one space, matching the scale to the width of each front individually.

Is the small 15 mm knob difficult to grip in everyday use?

The 15 mm knob is 17.2 mm high, so despite its small diameter it remains comfortable to use. For light drawers and standard cupboard doors, this size usually proves sufficient.

Which fixing screws are included?

Each Nitre knob comes with a standard M4 fixing screw, suitable for the most common thicknesses of cabinet fronts used in fitted living room furniture and fitted kitchens.

Will patina be more visible on the 15 mm knob than on the larger sizes?

Signs of use may become noticeable sooner on a smaller knob, because a larger proportion of its surface is touched regularly. This is a natural feature of brass, which can be partly slowed down by wiping regularly with a dry microfibre cloth.

Does Nitre fit IKEA furniture and how is it fitted?

Nitre is fitted using a single M4 hole – the screw included passes through the front from the back and screws into the thread in the base of the knob. On IKEA furniture with a factory-drilled hole for a knob, fitting does not require any additional drilling. For fronts without a hole, you just need to drill a single hole with a 4 mm drill bit.

Does the Nitre knob fit standard cabinet fronts?

Yes, the knob is fitted using a single hole with an M4 screw, so it fits most standard cabinet fronts.

Can the colour vary from one item to another?

Yes, owing to the brushed surface and the character of brass, the shade may vary slightly depending on the batch and the angle of the light.

How do I fit a handle on the front correctly?

We recommend using only a manual cross-head screwdriver to fit the handles. We advise against using electric screwdrivers, as too much torque can damage the thread or the coating of the handle. When planning where to fit the handle, it is worth allowing a gap of a few millimetres from the edge of the front. For large fronts or heavy drawers, we recommend keeping a gap of 1–2 cm from the edge, which makes them more comfortable to use and distributes the forces better.
